Why we don't use WordPress
Most Finnish web agencies build on WordPress. It's popular because it's cheap to start and easy to find developers for. But a cheap start doesn't mean a cheap total cost.
WordPress typically loads 20-40 scripts on every page load. Each script slows the page down. Google measures page speed and uses it to rank search results. Our sites load 3-5 scripts. In practice, this means sub-second load times compared to WordPress's 3-5 seconds.
WordPress powers 43% of all websites in the world. That also makes it the world's biggest attack target. In 2023, over 5,900 vulnerabilities were found in WordPress plugins.
